  • Overview

    Allied Beverage Group, the leading distributor of wines and spirits in the state of New Jersey is searching for a Delivery Supervisor for our Carlstadt location.  The Delivery Supervisor is responsible for coordinating drivers and ensuring they execute procedures according to company standards. Essential work duties include recruiting and training staff, responding to customer issues, optimizing the efficiency of routes, adhering to safety and compliance policies, and fostering a positive working environment.


    Communication includes:

    • Coordinate teams and train staff.
    • Creation of documents, interacting with managerial staff and training employees as needed.
    • Able to employ leadership, critical thinking and time management skills and can work effectively both independently and in teams.
    • Able to communicate effectively to drivers, customers and leadership teams in both written and verbally while effectively changing messaging for the audience.

    Leadership Skills include:

    • Lead, guide and direct drivers regarding freight movement schedules and customer delivery expectations.
    • Involved in and make recommendations in hiring and terminations.
    • Responsible for new hire orientation and training for delivery personnel.
    • As part of continued training and quality assurance, performed "follow along" with teams out in the field.

    Customer Orientation includes:

    • Reducing spending and improve operational efficiency.
    • Communicate directly with customers for special handling requests, issue escalations and resolution.
    • Solve customer related issues with Customer Service and the Sales Department.

    Results Orientation includes:

    • Review and revise driver schedules to increase efficiencies and lower costs
    • Responsible for delivering on KPI's; set targets, monitor performance, provide coaching to meet or exceed expectations.
    • Reduce process errors, improve process results and save costs.
    • Ensure adherence to delivery standards, efficiencies and regulatory requirements.


    Educational Requirements

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Accounting, Business or Logistics Management)


    Training and/or Experience

    • 3-5 years of direct supervisor level experience within a distribution environment
    • 3+ years transportation experience
    • 3+ years of Supervision experience
    • Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred
    • Roadnet experience preferred
    • Project management experience preferred


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Functional system understanding Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights and weekends when required
    • 20% In-state travel requirement
    • Strong Communication skills – verbal, presentation, writing
    • Preferred: Next day delivery experience


    Physical and Mental Requirements:

    • 9-10 hours, 5 days a week, ability to work across multiple shifts
    • Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds based on the nature of product sold
    • Must be able to interact and deal with employees of diverse backgrounds
    • Must be able to interact and lead union & non-union employees


    Additonal Information:

    • Liaison for Directors of Transportation. Directly responsible for people and process across distribution  
    • Responsible for union drivers across state of New Jersey
    • Liaisons for Directors of Distribution
    • Liaison between distribution, warehouse, sales management and sales team
