  • Overview

    Allied Beverage Group, the leading wine and spirits distributor in the state of New Jersey is looking for an Operations Supervisor for its' Carlstadt location.  In 2019, we are moving into a state of the art facility to be located in Elizabeth, NJ. The Operations Supervisor is a key leader position in the distribution and operations organization reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as knowledge of warehouse operations Preference for warehouse automation experience is a plus but not required. The Operations Supervisor leads day to day operations and personnel, ensuring the highest level of customer service to customers. Leads union and non-union employees and enjoys building a team.  

    Responsibilities

    Planning

    • Creating and reviewing SOPS as needed and ensuring processes are being followed.
    • Monitors and maintains the warehouse management systems and warehouse MHE systems including any modifications or improvements of these systems in conjunction with the Director of Maintenance and the Director of Operations.
    • Planning daily work requirements in order to provide top notch customer service.
    • Hire and trains employees effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.

     

    Building an inclusive culture

    • Daily, weekly and monthly meetings to include pre-shift and team meetings designed to review metrics recognize & reward and pass information to all employees.
    • Ensuring supervisors are adhering to company policy and administering practices in fair and equitable manner.
    • One on one/team meetings with supervisors to align on individual and collective targets and goals
    • Individual and team recognition designed to build camaraderie and reward individual behavior.

     

    Continuous Improvement

    • Identifies and improves individual and team metrics hourly, daily and weekly in order to drive performance.
    • Development of action plans and roundtable meetings with frontline and leaders designed to identify root causes and assign ownership to implementation of suggested objective-based solutions.

     

    Execution

    • Ability to drive results and improve productivity and efficiency.
    • Setting up meetings with peers in delivery and maintenance to drive results, Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, frontline employees and the ab other individuals inside and outside the Company.

     

    Safety

    • Ownership of warehouse safety within the work environment.
    • Ownership of safety communication and training to frontline and supervisors
    • Ensuring all employees and work conditions are compliant with safety programs in conjunction with Safety manager and maintenance teams.

     

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

     

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Accounting, Business or Logistics Management)

     

    Training and/or Experience

     

    • 3-5 years of direct supervisor level experience within a distribution environment
    • 3+ years Operations management experience
    • Supply Chain supervisory experience

     

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

     

    • Functional system understanding in WMS, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights and weekends when required
    • 20% In-state travel requirement
    • Strong Communication skills – verbal, presentation, writing
    • Preferred: Warehouse automation experience

     

    Physical Requirements:

     

    • Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds based on the nature of product sold.
    • 9-10 hours, 5 days a week, ability to work across multiple shifts.

     

    Mental Requirements:

     

    • Must be able to interact and deal with employees of diverse backgrounds.
    • Must be able to interact and lead union & non-union employees.
