  • Overview

    Responsible for the development of the entire portfolio from a volume as well as SKU stand point. A Wine Field Manager is expected to work with suppliers and sales people, targeting Off-Premise account development and assisting with special projects. This position will be based out of our office in Elizabeth, New Jersey, but is expected to spend 80 to 90% of their time on the road visiting accounts and growing market share.


    • Open specific number of quality new accounts.
    • Increase, maintain account base in revenue and distribution of key supplier brands.
    • Penetrate undersold account base and increase sales and distribution of key supplier brands.
    • Sell and market defined portfolio of premium wine and spirit products.
    • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
    • Call on accounts and cover a daily route by creating an established and efficient routing pattern.
      Analyze entire account base by visiting each account and determining the specific needs of the individual accounts.
    • Establish sales and merchandising objectives relative to brand priority for each account by understanding company priorities.
    • Prepare and present professional sales presentation to customers by combining both the company’s priorities and customer's need.
    • Understand company pricing and product programming information on a monthly basis by maintaining accurate and up to date records.
    • Understand competitive pricing and product programming on a monthly basis by reading Beverage Media and other trade related publications.
    • Obtain appropriate distribution and volume goals of supplier brands throughout account base by representing and selling based on the brands features and benefits.
    • Must participate in all supplier meetings.
    • Ensure maximum brand visibility within accounts by using effective point of sale materials when appropriate.
    • Administer staff training seminars by educating the account's staff to build product knowledge.
    • Organize special events to maximize brand visibility within accounts by promoting specific brands to account's customer.
    • Keep current on inventory and out of stock situations by communicating with management as to problem situations.
    • Communicate with management as to needs of specific accounts by maintaining organized territory and account records.
    • Maintain professional relationships with all suppliers by participating in effective supplier work with sales calls.
    • Attend and actively participate in weekly sales meetings by asking questions relative to current supplier activities.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


    • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.
    • A minimum of two years’ experience selling a wine portfolio is required.
    • Broad based wine knowledge with commitment to continue to upgrade wine knowledge.
    • WSET L2 required, WSET L3 preferred.
    • Ability to hold a Solicitor’s Permit required.
    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
    • A sound understanding of wine and spirits is required.
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
    • Results oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills; uses diplomacy and discretion.
    • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pays attention to detail and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer systems including presentation software.
    • Familiarity with assigned territory is a plus.
